Presenter Information: Elizabeth C. Brooks, JD, IBCLC, FILCA

Elizabeth (Liz) is a lactation consultant in private practice since 1999 and a lawyer since 1983. She serves as Adjunct Professor at Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions, teaching “Public Policy in Breastfeeding” in the Human Lactation Consultation program. This is one of the five institutions around the country offering intense classroom and clinical work to fully qualify students in the IBLCE-approved accelerated pathway to sit for the IBCLC certification exam. She has served on the Board of Directors for the International Lactation Consultant Association and the United States Breastfeeding Committee. Liz currently serves as the Director of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America. She is active in her Pennsylvania-based professional association and breastfeeding coalition. Liz was designated Fellow of the International Consultant Association in 2008, the inaugural year of the program. She authored Legal and Ethical Issues for the IBCLC in 2013 and co-authored an ethics and legal chapter in five lactation-related textbooks.
